This is the back door to the building I work in. To the very left, you can see something that looks like an old lock (like something you can stick a pole through to bolt it shut) and there is another set of hinges. This makes me a little curious about what the building used to be used for. This photo was taken in Pembroke, Ga.

Spotted this interesting piece of the past on the wall of a tattoo shop next to Robinson Garage, Downtown Savannah. The rust shows its age and the lingering wires show that something has been taken out of what looks like a socket. I believe this may have been a sign. (J. Murph, 011)

Tokheim company began in an Iowa, more than a century ago. John J. Tokheim wanted to improve the method to dispense gasoline. And in 1898 he designed a gasoline pump similar to the water pump. Traveling with my husband in the wilderness of Effingham County, I came across of a Tokheim gas pump. This specific gas pump was manufactured between 1940-1950, and now is sitting outside of a garage as decoration. #history #remnatology #gaspump (J. Ribeiro AP 001,17).

As my family and I drove down south on highway I95, I noticed an old brick tower along the road on exit 36 from I95. After doing some research, I came to find out that this old brick tower, was the "Old Picric Acid Plant Smokestacks at Dock Junction. The construction of this factory was to help with the production of picric acid, a massive explosive material, intentionally to be used during War World I in 1918. The only problem, thirty days before the completion of the factory the War ended, and the factory was never once open!#akathefactorythatneveropen #history #remnatology (J. Ribeiro AP 001,17)

This is a video of the whole house fan, located in the hallway of my house. These fans were built in order to cool down the house using the cooler air from outside. These fans were very popular in the 50s. With the introduction of electrical ventilation systems these whole house fans went out of style.
