This time of year, the heat and garden’s bounty make me come over all Med ☀️☺️. Old-school, perhaps - but there’s a lot to be said for ancient cuisines that know how to make the most of minimal and simple ingredients (and veg in particular). That unremarkable-looking dun sauce in the foreground is the remarkable 4-ingredient flavour bomb that is #anchoïade (if you’re a misguided anchovy-hater, avert your sorry eyes now ⚠️): cured anchovies, olive oil, and our garlic and  home fermented wine vinegar - recipe basics👇🏻. For frenzied and guaranteed double-dipping, there are backyard eggs, beans, potatoes, carrots, and basil (dried olives and caperberries - for now 😉 - from the deli). Do not knock this sauce until you’ve tried it - and then prepare to hold yourself back from drinking it directly from the bowl! 🐟🥕🥔🥚🇫🇷 ❤️ #summer #eattherainbow #latergram⠀

The savory sweetness of the bacon in the spaghetti squash was a nice contrast to the earthiness, tannin, and crispness of the wine. I love this time of year, when it becomes easier to "shop" almost entirely from the garden. But my kohlrabi is a reliable stayer all year round, and edible from shoot to root (nearly!). Having made stock from our Festivus turkey bones, and with some of the turkey skin pangrattato kicking around in the freezer, this little kohlrabi risotto’s just the ticket for #meatlite Monday. With a grating of my homemade (inadvertent ☺️) almost-parmesan hard cheese - 😋🦃🧀
